Small Group Tours
Myanmar – October 2013
We are currently offering a small group tour for October 2013 which will include exploring the previous capital city of Yangon, including the markets, the British colonial architecture and its magical Shwedagon pagoda. Then a real highlight of this trip will be experiencing the Phaung Daw U Pagoda Festival on the magical Inle Lake. During the festival, the pagoda’s Buddha images, believed to have mystical powers, are ceremoniously rowed around the Lake in an elaborately decorated barge, towed by several boats powered by the renowned Inle Lake leg-rowers. Then we will travel on to Mandalay to explore the city and surrounding areas, such as the ancient city of Ava. We will then visit Monywa and its pagoda complex with over 500,000 Buddha images, as well as the nearby sandstone caves with the richest collection of mural paintings and Buddha statues in SE Asia. Then it will be on to Bagan, with its awesome display of more than 2,000 ancient shrines, temples and stupas. Before concluding our trip, we will spend a day at Mt. Popa, climbing the 5000 ft. high extinct volcano where 37 ancient spirits are said to reside.
The full itinerary and pricing are attached for this experience of a lifetime. Contact us for more details.
